The Board of Trustees is committed to helping Tehiyah continue to grow and flourish and be successful over the long term. As stated by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), “The board is the guardian of the school’s mission. It is the board’s responsibility to ensure that the mission is relevant and vital to the community it serves and to monitor the success of the school in fulfilling its mission.”
The Board of Trustees is comprised of individuals with a deep connection to Tehiyah whose skills, experience and ruach help the Board engage in responsible financial management, thoughtful planning, and sound decision-making. During the school year, the Board usually meets once per month. The Board’s key responsibilities include approving the school’s annual budget, hiring and evaluating the Head of School, and developing and implementing long-range plans.

Message from the Board President
Tehiyah, while not originally in our plans for our children’s education, has turned out to be the perfect place for them and for our whole family. I know that my children’s souls are being nurtured as much as their minds. They are getting the wonderful balance of an excellent academic education infused with Jewish values that mean so much to us and will serve them so well as they grow into the adult world. Imagine my delight, having grown up with almost no Jewish observance, to hear my son singing in Hebrew in the back seat of the car, saying a blessing before we eat, and even engaging in a discussion on Shavuot about having profound spiritual experiences in nature. Tehiyah Day School is at a pivotal point in its 32 year history. As president of the Board of Trustees, my goals are to raise the bar in financial sustainability for the school so that it can continue to welcome any family who wants a Jewish day school education for their family, and to make Tehiyah the number one choice for East Bay Jewish families. My virtual door is always open, and I look forward to partnering with you in the excellent Jewish education of our children.
