Book Donations
The Library accepts donations of new and used books all year. Some join our collection, duplicates are shared with public schools (that often have no libraries and few books) or are sold as part of our used book sale at the Hanukkah Book Fair.
For many years Tehiyah students have been honored on their birthdays, Bar or Bat Mitzvahs and other special occasions by choosing a book to donate to the Tehiyah Library. A bookplate is placed in the book honoring the child and the event, and the child is the first one to check it out. Students love choosing a new book from the Birthday Book cupboard to be their gift to the library. It is delightful to open books many years later and see children’s names long after they have graduated. Parents or grandparents donate $20 for each Birthday Book.
The Hanukkah Book Fair
The Hanukkah Book Fair is the library’s major fundraiser. Held at the time of parent conferences in the fall, it offers books and Judaica from Afikomen Jewish Books and Gifts, books from Cody’s Books, as well as books, crafts and CD’s from our very talented faculty and parent body. It is a highlight of the year for the students, a wonderful way to do Hanukkah shopping and an important way to support the library.
