Tehiyah Day School is governed by an independent Board of Trustees, made up of a minimum of ten and maximum of twenty voting members. The Board of Trustees is committed to helping Tehiyah continue to grow and flourish and be successful over the long term. The Board of Trustees is comprised of individuals with a deep connection to Tehiyah whose skills, experience and ruach help the Board engage in responsible financial management, thoughtful planning, and sound decision-making. During the school year, the Board usually meets once per month.
The Board’s Role
The Board is charged with ensuring the long-term sustainability and viability of the school and its mission. It is concerned with the needs of the School over several generations; therefore, it is the Board’s responsibility to formulate the strategic goals of the School. The Board works in close partnership with the Head of School, but does not manage the day-to-day or tactical operations of the School. The Board hires and governs the Head of School and delegates day-to-day managerial responsibility for the entire organization to the Head, within the general policies and principles that the Board has established. The Board is responsible for major funding decisions such as approving the annual operating budget and setting tuition. The Board also monitors progress of the school’s strategic plan.
The Board’s key responsibilities include approving the school’s annual budget, hiring and evaluating the Head of School, and developing and implementing long-range plans.
